No Icons or Emoticons in Firefox or Pidgin

The other day I upgraded my laptop from Kubuntu 14.04 to 14.10 and after it had completed I found that I had no icons or emoticons in all my GTK applications - including Firefox and Pidgin. Eventually tracked it down to the fact that a particular cache wasn’t available. To fix it you need to run the following command: gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache If gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders in not installed you need to install the following package: ...
